On 30 September 2018, the European Day of Languages was be celebrated at the premises of the British Council and the Goethe-Institut in Kyiv.

Every year since 2001 the European Day of Languages has been celebrated on the initiative of the Council of Europe to promote multilingualism in Europe. Linguistic diversity is an instrument for achieving greater intercultural understanding and a key component of the rich cultural heritage of our continent. It is why 800 million Europeans are encouraged to learn more languages at any age.
In Ukraine, the European Day of Languages celebration was organized by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) and funded by the EU Culture Bridges program, implemented by the British Council. The following institutes have partnered to support the European Day of Languages 2018: the British Council Ukraine, the Goethe-Institut Ukraine,the French Institute in Ukraine, the Italian Cultural Institute in Ukraine, the Polish Institute in Kyiv, the Embassy of Hungary in Ukraine, and the Czech Centre in Ukraine.
